Academic Success Coach

Our Academic Success Coach supports students by helping them develop skills and strategies to improve their academic performance. They offer personalized guidance on time management, organization, study techniques, goal setting, and self-regulation. Through collaboration, the coach helps students identify and overcome challenges, creating a supportive environment that encourages both personal and academic growth.

  • Christine is available for appointments on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

For additional 1:1 academic coaching support, you can schedule a meeting with Felicia Flores by emailing her at fflores2@oxy.edu.

  • Felicia offers 30-minute coaching sessions Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Workshop Wednesdays

Join us every Wednesday at 1PM at the O Mac Lab for Workshop Wednesdays, a weekly series designed to support your academic and personal success. Each session covers a different topic, from time management and study strategies to stress reduction and career readiness. Workshops are interactive, practical, and open to all students. Whether you're looking to sharpen your skills or stay on track, Workshop Wednesdays are here to help you thrive.

Focus Fridays – Body Doubling 

Need help staying on task? Join us every Friday from 2-4 PM at the O Mac Lab for Focus Fridays, a dedicated space for body doubling, a simple yet powerful strategy where working alongside others helps you stay focused and motivated. Whether you're tackling assignments, studying for exams, or catching up on emails, this quiet, supportive environment is designed to boost your productivity and help you get things done.

Psychological Testing Services

°µÍø½ûÇø collaborates with : to offer psychological testing services through a practicum training program. In this program, second-year Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) students, under the supervision of licensed clinical psychologists, provide assessments to °µÍø½ûÇø students. These services are part of the Disability Services’ psycho-educational testing program, which aims to assess and diagnose students’ learning and psychological needs.

How to apply

Students interested in these services should complete the application to join the psychological testing waitlist. They will be contacted as their name approaches the top of the list. Testing is typically scheduled for the semester following placement on the waitlist.

Tips on Navigating College for °µÍø½ûÇø Students

Familiarize yourself with key support offices that can make a big difference:

Log in to to schedule intake meetings, submit or renew accommodation requests, and access your accommodation letters. Be proactive and don’t wait until you fall behind.

Whether it’s disability-related, an academic concern, a request for academic success coaching, or you're just curious about what we offer, you can use Accommodate to schedule a meeting with a Disability Services & Student Support (DSSS) staff member. We’re here to help.

Faculty are here to support your learning and success. Don’t hesitate to:

  • Attend office hours (even if you don’t have specific questions)

  • Email them if you're confused about material or assignments

  • Talk to them early if you're struggling or need flexibility

  • Ask about feedback on your progress

Strong faculty relationships can lead to academic support, mentorship, and even research or career opportunities.

Email is the college’s main form of communication. Important updates from faculty, DSSS, and other offices will come through your °µÍø½ûÇø account.

Use a planner, digital calendar, or task management app to track assignments, exams, and meetings. Staying on top of deadlines reduces stress and helps you plan ahead.

Prioritize your well-being. Visit Emmons Wellness Center for counseling, medical services, and wellness support.

Explore student organizations and campus events on LA Engage. Community involvement helps build a support network and enrich your college experience.

Speak up if you're facing challenges. Whether it's with a professor, DSSS, or another campus office, self-advocacy is essential for academic and personal growth.

Check in throughout the semester, not just at registration time. Your advisor can help with course planning, graduation tracking, and discussing academic or career goals.

 

Transitioning to college is a process. It’s normal to make mistakes or feel overwhelmed. Growth takes time. Ask for help when needed, and give yourself grace.
