Jess is a Marriage and Family Therapist trainee currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University, who under the clinical supervision of the Director of Counseling will provide individual and group counseling services to the °µÍø½ûÇø student body. She is committed to learning, growing, and adapting alongside her clients and the Emmons Wellness Center team to provide thoughtful, personalized care.
Before beginning her clinical training, Jess worked as a full-spectrum doula for eight years, supporting birthing people and their families through reproductive health experiences. Through this work, she provided educational, physical, emotional, and mental support, with a strong emphasis on advocacy. Jess has specialized training in perinatal mental health and has supported individuals through fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, perinatal loss, and abortion. While she is deeply passionate about this specialty, she is also eager to broaden her clinical experience across all areas of mental health as she shifts from doula care to psychotherapy.
Jess approaches therapy from a decolonized and culturally conscious lens, centering social justice, advocacy, and client wisdom in the process. She values collaboration and strives to create an empowering therapeutic relationship rooted in empathy, active listening, and inclusivity. Drawing from narrative therapy, Jess aims to support people in exploring and reshaping the stories that influence their lives, believing that healing happens in spaces where honesty, self-expression, and compassion are nurtured.
Originally from the Metro Detroit area, Jess earned her bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the University of Michigan. She continues to use art as a meaningful mode of healing and self-care.
